This year’s Ceramics Monthly Emerging Artist submission pool included the work of over 600 artists working in clay for less than ten years. Applicants from all over the globe presented functional, sculptural, and figurative work, demonstrating an understanding of material, their technical prowess, and the unique perspectives from which they all make work. Finding inspiration in their lived experiences, domestic spaces, flora and fauna, and historic objects and events, the twenty-one finalists in the pages that follow represent the fresh voices in our field, building and expanding on what has come before. —Eds.
