ICAN—the premiere organization for ceramic artists!

Being an ICAN member means being part of a community of like-minded artists—artists who love to make, discover, watch, listen, read about, and share all things ceramics. Visiting the ICAN website not only means discovering new tips and techniques to help you be a better ceramic artist, but it also provides members with a place to be involved, a place to share ideas, a place to meet fellow artists with similar interests, and a place to show off your hard work in the studio. Whether you are a beginner, have a few classes under your belt, or are a seasoned veteran, you have landed in the right place.
If you are a member already, scroll down and get involved: Submit images of your artwork, to the latest ICAN contest, watch the Cultural Tours video to learn about all the places ICAN goes, or read about your fellow ICAN members in the Artist Portfolios section. Then, add your own portfolio! If you are not a member, joining ICAN gives you the resources and community support you need to be a better ceramic artist.

  • Bali: Awakening the Senses

    October 14 to 25, 2024

Ubud, the home of Gaya Ceramic Arts Center, is, in many ways, Bali’s cultural heart. It’s in the cool mountains and home to one of Bali’s royal families—you can even visit the majestic palace in the center of town. Ubud is also well known as a flourishing crafts center. There are hundreds of shops making, displaying, and selling antiques, woodcarvings, crafts, textiles, paintings, and jewelry in Ubud, along with some incredible art museums and galleries. The surrounding Ubud district’s rain forest and terraced rice paddies, dotted with Hindu temples and shrines, are among Bali’s most famous landscapes. Ancient holy sites include the intricately carved Goa Gajah (Elephant Cave) and Gunung Kawi, with its rock-cut shrines. The ICAN trip to Bali will include guided tours of the island’s culture, art, and architecture along with in-depth, hands-on, ceramic workshops at the world-renowned Gaya Ceramic Arts Center.

You also get:

  • A 20% discount (all day, every day) on all books, videos, and other exclusive merchandise in our Ceramic Arts Network Shop.
  • Exclusive discounts on shipping services. When you need to ship your work to customers, you can save you up to 34% in shipping costs through UPS.

With the ICAN Gold membership, you get all of this for just $14.65 a month! That’s a 40% savings off of our subscription products (Ceramics Monthly, Pottery Making Illustrated, CLAYflicks, Ceramic Recipes). When you add everything up, these benefits are valued at $234. You get all the discounts, unlimited streaming-video workshops, glaze recipes, all the exclusive benefits to improve your art, build your skills, and grow your business.

If you’re thinking, this sounds great, but you’re fine with only digital magazines and don’t want the beautiful print editions, we have you covered. Our ICAN Silver Membership includes all the benefits of the Gold level—except print editions of the two magazines—and you pay just $11.49 a month. This level is perfect for subscribers outside the US who experience long delays with international post. With a silver membership, you can save a little money and read the magazines right when they are published.

And we have one more option—perfect for students and other ceramic artists on a budget who still want to enter our contests, take advantage of our shop and shipping discounts, and connect and engage with the ceramic arts community—the ICAN Standard Membership level is just $6.25 a month.

With your ICAN membership, you have access to all the best information and tools to help you pursue your passion for ceramic arts and to succeed as a ceramic artist, all in one place and for an affordable price. Choose the ceramic artists membership level that best suits you!
