Join ceramic artist Horacio Casillas to explore his process for creating architecturally inspired surfaces through image transfer, carving, and underglaze inlay! Horacio will share the thought process behind his Cathedral-inspired pottery and the Gothic and Baroque elements that shape his designs.
He'll demonstrate on thrown jars and mugs, but this decorating approach can be applied to any form, thrown or hand-built. Along the way, he'll cover how he transfers images onto leather-hard clay with tattoo paper, carves for depth and definition, and applies terra sigillata and underglaze to bring the designs to life.
SKILL LEVEL: Intermediate (but Beginners will find plenty of inspiration too!)
In this webinar, You'll learn how to:
Use tattoo transfer paper to move detailed designs onto leather-hard clay!
Give your pieces depth and texture for a tactile experience using carving tools!
Layer underglazes into carved lines for a stained-glass effect!
Build the components of a church cupola as the lid of a jar!
Pull handles directly from the piece without messing up your designs!
Our Workshop from Home webinars are just like in-person workshops, except you are guaranteed a front-row seat! Ask questions throughout, or during the Question & Answer session at the end.
