Join ceramic artist Susan McHenry for a 2-hour step-by-step webinar on creating a three-part candelabra. Susan will show the process from start to finish, demonstrating how to slab build a hollow midsection using a bisque drop mold, pinch a tapered pedestal and custom candle cups, and decorate with slips. Best of all, these methods can be used in endless ways and can generate ideas for forms beyond candle holders.
To enhance your viewing experience, we pre-recorded the demonstration for this webinar. Susan will join us live for the viewing and answer your questions in the chat, as well as during periodic breaks, and a Q&A period at the end!
SKILL LEVEL: Intermediate (but Beginners will find plenty of inspiration too!)
In this webinar, You'll learn how to:
Build a custom drop mold to create volume in your hollow midsection
Shape a tapered pedestal from an open pinch pot template
Form candle cups sized for your favorite tapers (accounting for clay shrinkage of course!)
Score, attach, and reinforce every seam for a piece that holds up structurally and visually
Finish with layered slip decoration that lets your clay body shine through
Our Workshop from Home webinars are just like in-person workshops, except you are guaranteed a front-row seat! Ask questions throughout, or during the Question & Answer session at the end.
