Join ceramic artist Ruth Easterbrook for a two-hour online glazing workshop designed to strengthen your approach to glazing basics and inspire new creative possibilities. Through in-depth demonstrations and expert guidance, Ruth will share how careful planning and thoughtful experimentation can help you achieve truly unique glazed surfaces, no matter your firing temperature or technique. Bring your notebook and take lots of notes! You’ll come away with a fresh perspective on the glazing process and practical methods you can apply immediately in your studio.

SKILL LEVEL:  All levels welcome, but some understanding of the ceramic process and terms would be helpful!

In this Workshop, you’ll learn:
  • How to recognize and use the distinct qualities of different glazes to your advantage
  • Ways to troubleshoot and avoid common glazing mistakes
  • Creative approaches to using underglazes and other studio materials in unexpected ways

  • How to map and plan glaze designs using tape, wax, and layering techniques

  • Methods for inlaying glaze and building complex, exciting surfaces suitable for any firing temperature
