Over the course of this two-hour webinar, Kip will demystify the process of turning detailed botanical drawings into colorful newsprint transfers. You'll learn to decorate leather-hard ceramic pieces using screen printing techniques that you can do right at home—from creating photo emulsion screens to printing, coloring, and applying vibrant transfer images to your work.

Come join Kip as she shares ways you can utilize this process to develop striking ceramic surfaces all your own!

SKILL LEVEL:  All levels welcome, but some understanding of the ceramic process and terms would be helpful!

What you’ll learn:
  • A unique collaging technique for layering multiple images onto leather-hard work utilizing a Silhouette digital cutter
  • Two methods for creating photo emulsion screens at home using screens from EZ Screen and Small Dog Prints, plus tips for achieving exceptionally crisp screens and designs
  • How to generate small test pieces ideal for exploring the transfer process
  • Methods for applying transfers to curved surfaces with professional results
  • Ways to create seamless ombre color washes in backgrounds using slips and underglazes
  • Additives that increase slip flexibility for newsprint application, plus techniques for adding these slip colors to your transfers
