In this 2.5-hour presentation, Taylor Sijan will demonstrate her varied techniques for making mugs that are truly functional sculptures! Known for her expressive forms that would make even the most experienced potter wonder "how'd she do that?", Taylor
incorporates various building methods—from throwing the mug body on the wheel, to handbuilding the mug foot in a slump mold, to adding sculptural detail with coils. And you'll learn every stage of her building process in this webinar!

SKILL LEVEL:Intermediate – Advanced (although beginners will find plenty of inspiration!)
Taylor will demonstrate how to:
Throw a mug body with a lovely undulating rim
Use darting techniques to alter the mug into a more dynamic profile
Make a bisque slump mold on the wheel and then use it to create a repeatable and elegant tapered foot
Add a coiled and trimmed foot for a dramatic, cantilevered effect
Pinch the perfect handle
Add sculpted detail and stamped and slip-trailed decoration
