The ICAN trip to Bali will include guided tours of the island’s culture, art, and architecture along with in-depth, hands-on, ceramic workshops at the world-renowned Gaya Ceramic Arts Center.
 
The tour will be centered in Bali’s cultural heart of Ubud. Located in the cool mountains of Indonesia, this quaint town is well known for its flourishing crafts center. You can visit hundreds of shops making, displaying, and selling antiques, woodcarvings, crafts, textiles, paintings, and jewelry – not to mention some incredible art museums and galleries!

You’ll be surrounded by some of Bali’s most famous landscapes, including Ubud’s rain forest and terraced rice paddies that are dotted with Hindu temples and shrines. You can visit ancient holy sites, including the intricately carved Goa Gajah (Elephant Cave) and Gunung Kawi, with its rock-cut shrines.

About the hotel:
Nestled on the lush outskirts of Ubud, Sri Ratih Cottages is a pristine boutique hotel known for its stylish modern Balinese design, tranquil atmosphere, and the warm hospitality of the staff. The spaciously set-out rooms surround the turquoise waters of the swimming pool, which sits at the center of well-kept tropical gardens. Guests can dine at the hotel’s restaurant, the Sri Ratih Café and Jewelry, or take advantage of the Sri Ratih Spa located on the grounds. Sri Ratih Cottages boasts 30 rooms, accented with locally sourced Balinese furnishings and artworks with natural timber and stone accents. The bustling center of town is a 15-minute walk from the hotel, where guests can easily reach the restaurants, galleries, shops, and attractions such as Pura Dalem Temple and the Ubud Palace. The provincial art village of Penestanan is just a 10-minute walk away as are stunning views of rice fields and the breathtaking Campuhan Hill ridge walk. Taxis can be arranged at the front office and are a very affordable and easy option for getting around. Day trips can also be arranged with the front-desk staff to destinations beyond Ubud.

Included in the Registration: 

  • Lodging: 11 nights at Sri Ratih Cottages. 
  • Ground transportation while traveling in Bali, during the tour dates for tour activities
  • Meals: 11 breakfasts at the hotel, 8 lunches, and 2 group dinners
  • Workshop for potters at Gaya Ceramic Arts Center (GCAC). GCAC will provide a large, well-organized studio, clay, use of equipment, and all necessary clay tools. All demos at GCAC will include hands-on participation with professional potters.
  • Day tours to \Pura Dalem in Ubud, Tirtha Empul, batik studio, local crafts studios, Setia Darma Masks and Puppets Museum, John Hardy Jewelry and showroom, Green Bamboo Village, Tegallalang rice terrace and rice fields and the Gunung Kawi cave temple.
  • Transportation to and from the airport to Sri Ratih Cottages (shuttles will not take guests to other hotels)
  • Activities for non-potters during the ceramic workshops for potters

Not Included in the Registration:

  • Airfare
  • 11 meals on your own
  • Hotel incidentals including alcohol, laundry, additional meals, and spa activities
  • Any additional cab and driver needs requested at the hotel
  • Additional hotel nights must be arranged and paid for on your own and can be done through the hotel’s website.

One-Time Payment (Pay in Full):

Double Room (per-person occupancy):  $5,250
Single Room + Single Supplement:  $6,100 (single rooms are sold out)
 

IMPORTANT NOTE: The One-Time Payment (Pay in Full) option will incur a non-refundable $250 administration fee should you decide to cancel on or before May 14, 2024. No Refund after May 14, 2024. This means that should you cancel your participation before the cancellation deadline, we will retain $250 from your original payment. Please see our cancellation terms below.

Pay-Over-Time (Payment Plan):

Double Room (per-person occupancy):  $5,500
Single Room + Single Supplement:  $6,350 (single rooms are sold out)
 

IMPORTANT NOTE: 
The Pay-Over-Time / Payment Plan option requires a non-refundable $500 deposit due at the time of registration. No Refund after May 27, 2024. This means that should you cancel your participation before the cancellation deadline, we will retain $500 from any payments you made to us. Please see our cancellation terms below.
 


Payments will be automatically deducted per the following payment schedule:

2nd Payment                                                           25% of total fee — Due January 14, 2024
3rd Payment                                                            25% of total fee — Due March 14, 2024
Final Payment                                                        Remainder of Balance — Due May 14, 2024

Participants who elect to take part in the Pay-Over-Time option will be sent a receipt for each interim payment and for the final payment. 

Tour rates DO cover your lodging, local ground transportation, tour activities, and some meals.

Registration Process and Terms:

2. Confirmation: 
Once we successfully process your initial payment, your space on the tour is officially reserved. You will also receive an email confirming your spot with a receipt.

3. Required Documentation: 
After your reservation has been confirmed, you will need to provide the following documents to the ICAN Manager in order for you to participate in the tour: 
a) A completed Registration Form (provided by us)
b) A completed Emergency Contact Form (provided by us) 
c) A completed Liability Waiver (provided by us)

4. Airline Tickets: 
Once we’ve registered your spot on the tour, we advise that you do not book flights or other services until the tour has filled the minimum number of required participants and the tour is confirmed by the ICAN manager. If we do not achieve the minimum number of participants, we will not be able to organize the tour and your payment(s) will be refunded in full. However, once the tour has met that minimum requirement, you will be notified by email and will be encouraged to book your flights at that time. 

5. The ICAN member discount only applies to products in the Ceramic Arts Network Shop and cannot be applied to this international tour.

6.  All registered guests must be 21 years or older.

7. ICAN does not provide travel or health insurance to registered guests. However, it is highly recommended. 

Cancellation Policy:
1. Tour Cancellation and Refunds: In the unlikely event that the tour is canceled due to low enrollment or other reasons beyond our control (such as changing COVID-19 regulations), all tour-related deposits and payments made previously by you will be refunded back to you. 

2. Personal Cancellation and Refunds: 
If for some reason you register for the tour and later determine you will not be able to participate, you must notify the ICAN Manager in writing. Any payments made up to that point will be refunded through May 14, 2024. No Refunds after May 14, 2024. Notification of your cancellation after the deadline will result in a forfeiture of any payments made to that point. Note that this clause does apply to any deposits or admin fees made.

3. There is no refund for arriving late or leaving the trip early.

Communication Leading Up to Departure:
 

Once registered, tour participants will receive regular communication from the ICAN Manager with details about the event. All you’ll have to do is relax and enjoy this once-in-a-lifetime trip! We hope you can join us!
