SKILL LEVEL: Intermediate – Advanced (although beginners will find plenty of inspiration!)

In this 2-1/2-hour webinar, Sam Briegel will share her process for creating exquisite and detailed fabric texture and colored patterns on soft slabs of porcelain. Sam draws inspiration from clothing. Because clothing is both texture and print, she employs two main techniques in her work. The texture is achieved from monoprinting plaster slabs of relief onto soft slabs of porcelain and the other is from screenprinting underglaze in layers directly onto the slabs.

You'll learn how to:

  • Use a no-muss-no-fuss method for making plaster slabs for monoprinting from any low-relief texture!
  • Monoprint exquisite and detailed fabric texture onto soft slabs of porcelain!
  • Layer various colored slips in your monoprints for added interest!
  • Create multi-colored designs with layered screen printing!
  • and much more!
Because the texture monoprinting is a more complex process, the workshop will be approximately 2/3 monoprinting and 1/3 screen printing.
Sam will not cover making screens for screen printing in this webinar, but you can learn how to do it here and come prepared with pre-made screens!
