For this Workshop from Home demonstration, we talked with Jennifer McCurdy in her Martha's Vineyard studio. In this video, Jennifer demonstrates how she throws, alters, and dramatically carves her breathtaking high-fire porcelain sculptures! She explains her “dry throwing” technique, which sets her up for altering and carving. She also covers the structural considerations you need to keep in mind for creating these dramatic forms, as well as how she enhances them by firing upside down.
