Instructions

The base glaze produces an off-white matte glaze with a small amount of crystal growth. When including colorants, specifically Mason stains, be sure to review the guideline for stain use. Some stains are not compatible with glazes that contain zinc oxide. Sometimes, adding 10% or more of Mason stains will cause the glaze to blister. When firing, the glaze tends to need a slow to medium firing. A fast firing can cause pinholing in the glaze. Applying the glaze too thick may also cause pinholing. It is best applied by either spraying or dipping. The original glaze was developed by Val Cushing.
