Join ICAN and a small group of ceramic artists as we journey through Tuscany, discovering gourmet meals, unforgettable Italian sunsets, and a land rich in ceramic treasures. Highlights include hands-on workshops at La Meridiana Ceramic Center, and tours of Florence, Siena, San Gimignano, Volterra, Greve, Ravenna, Faenza, and more.

•  A small, friendly group of 21–25 people.

•  Ground Transportation: Includes bus and train transportation while traveling in Italy during the tour dates, ground transportation while at La Meridiana and drop off at the Florence airport or train station on the day of departure, October 20.

•  Meals: 11 breakfasts, 6 lunches without wine, 6 dinners (Italian meals with water and wine) are included.

•  Workshop Facilities for potters: La Meridiana will provide a large, well-organized studio, clay, use of equipment, and tools. All demos at La Meridiana will be hands-on participation with professional potters.

•  Museum entrance tickets: Uffizi Museum (www.uffizi.org), Academia (www.accademia.org), Bargello Museum (www.bargellomusei.beniculturali.it/musei/1/bargello), Zauli house (www.museozauli.it), the International Museum of Ceramics (MIC) (www.micfaenza.org) in Faenza, Duomo in Siena, and the Certaldo museums. A professional guide will lead the visits to the Uffizi, the Bargello, to Zauli house, the MIC, the walking tour in Florence, and the wine tasting.

•  Workshops and demos for potters: Two-hour studio visit and majolica demo of Mediterranean decoration patterns with Saura Vignoli (www.ceramichevignoli.com) (both potters and non-potters with visit Bottega Vignoli), hands-on maiolica workshop in Certaldo alto with M. Lazzerini (www.artesiaceramica.it), hands-on workshop of soft raku and terra sigillata at La Meridiana with Italian instructor Rosana Antonelli (http://rosanantonelli.blogspot.it), bone china demo with Pietro Maddalena (www.pietro.net).

•  Activities for non-potters during the ceramic workshops include: A cooking lesson in Certaldo Alto and a round-trip train visit to Pisa. 

Not Included in the Registration:

  • Air flights to and from Italy (arrival and departure in Florence)
  • 5 lunches, 5 dinners
  • Travel and health insurance
  • Personal expenses and personal purchases
  • Shipping expenses [for any purchased items or ceramics you make]

One-Time Payment (Pay in Full), on or after January 4, 2023:

  • The One-Time Payment (Pay in Full) option will incur a non-refundable $250 administration fee should you decide to cancel on or before June 8, 2023. No Refund after June 8, 2023. Please see our cancellation terms below.

Pay-Over-Time (Payment Plan Schedule):
Non-Refundable Deposit: $500 — Non-Refundable/Due at the time of Registration

2nd Payment: 25% of total fee — Due February 8, 2023

3rd Payment: 25% of total fee — Due April 8, 2023

Final Payment: Remainder of Balance — Due June 8, 2023

  • The 2nd and 3rd payments will be rounded up to the nearest $10. The final payment will deduct the exact balance owed on the June 8, 2023,  deadline.
  • Participants who elect to take part in the Pay-Over-Time option will be sent a receipt for each interim payment and for the final payment.
 

 

Registration Process and Terms:

  2. Confirmation: Once we process your initial payment, your space on the tour is officially reserved. You will receive an email receipt confirming your purchase. Spaces cannot be held without payment.
  3. Required Documentation: After your reservation has been confirmed, you will need to provide the following documents to the ICAN Manager in order for you to participate in the tour:
    a) A completed Registration Form (provided by us)
    b) A completed Emergency Contact Form (provided by us)
    c) A completed Liability Waiver (provided by us)
  4. Airline Tickets: We advise that you do not to book non-refundable flights or other services until the tour has filled the minimum number of required participants. Once the tour has met that minimum requirement, you will be notified immediately and will be encouraged to book your flights at that time.
  5. The ICAN member discount only applies to products in the Ceramic Arts Network Shop and cannot be applied to this international tour.
  6. All registered guests must be 21 years or older.
  7. ICAN does not provide travel insurance to registered guests. Travel insurance is highly recommended.
  8. We regret that we are NOT able to accommodate vegan diets on group trips to Italy.
  9. COVID-19 vaccinations are required to travel with ICAN. You will be required to show proof of vaccination. If you are unwilling to provide proof of vaccination, your spot on the tour will be cancelled and you will be subject to the terms of our cancellation policy.
Cancellation Policy:
  1. Tour Cancellation and Refunds: In the unlikely event that the tour be cancelled due to low enrollment or other reasons beyond our control, all tour-related deposits and payments made previously by you will be refunded back to you.
  2. Personal Cancellation and Refunds: If for some reason you register for the tour and later determine you will not be able to participate, you must notify the ICAN Manager in writing. Any payments made up to that point will be refunded up to   June 8, 2023. No Refunds after   June 8, 2023. Notification of your cancellation after the deadline will result in a forfeiture of any payments made to that point. Note that this clause does apply to any deposits or admin fees made.
  3. There is no refund for arriving late or leaving the trip early.
Communication Leading Up to Departure:

Once registered, tour participants will receive regular communication from the ICAN Manager with details about the event. All you’ll have to do is relax and enjoy this once-in-a-lifetime trip! We hope you can join us!
