Stephen Phillips was born in Crawford, Mississippi where he developed an interest in the arts at an early age. He discovered ceramics at East Mississippi Community College and later earned his BFA in ceramics at Mississippi University for Women. While there, he was awarded first place in ceramics in the 2011 Mississippi Collegiate Art Competition. In 2015, Stephen established Stephen Potter House Productions, a small studio space in the countryside of his hometown in Crawford, Mississippi. His work has been displayed and sold in the Eugenia Summer Gallery at Mississippi University for Women, the Rosenswood Arts Center, the R. E. Hunt Museum and the Ora O'Keefe Museum of Art.
