Pinches, lines, patterns, colors, and designs!
Join Sara Ballek as she walks you through a colorful course filled with many exciting processes that will ignite inspiration to step up your surface skills! This two-hour online demonstration workshop will be loaded with detailed step-by-step instruction that will focus on design, texture, color, surface techniques, and altering a basic, functional form through various methods.
You’ll also learn how to:
- Alter a basic form using a variety of pinching techniques
- Apply slip and underglaze, and use the sgraffito process to create fun, colorful patterns and designs
- Mix underglaze colors to create the perfect gradient
- Lay out a pattern on a round form
- Carefully choose colors that work well together
- Add final touches to a finished form with sanding to create super smooth surfaces
This workshop is geared toward beginners through advanced-level artists (demo will not show throwing techniques). Participants who would like to work along at home should have a simple, soft-leather-hard piece prepared for the workshop.
Our Workshop from Home webinars are just like in-person workshops, except you are guaranteed a front-row seat! Ask questions throughout, or during the Question & Answer session at the end.
You’ll also receive a link to the PDF resource document in your registration email that includes a list of Sara’s favorite tools, her slip and glaze recipes, helpful information about her firing temperatures and clay bodies, AND her full-length article from the November/December 2020 issue of Pottery Making Illustrated!
