Contrary to what the name implies, underglazes are not just limited to being used under a glaze!
In this video, an excerpt from herWorkshop from Home video (which is now available on CLAYflicks), Ruth Easterbrook walks through one of her favorite surface decoration methods: painting underglaze directly on top of freshly glazed bisque pot. Ruth describes this technique as a sort of "fake majolica" that allows you to achieve bright, controlled color with little to no movement. –Jennifer Poellot Harnetty, editor
