Faceting pottery is a great way to take pots out of the roundness that the wheel creates, and is often done on leather hard pots. But faceting freshly thrown pots right on the wheel head can also create some amazing effects!

In today's clip, an excerpt from Lively Forms and Expressive Surfaces, Mark Peters shares a new twist that he came up with for faceting pots. By making the cuts while the pot is still cylindrical and adjusting the way the wire moves through the clay, Mark creates an interesting alternative to the typical faceted surface. - Jennifer Poellot Harnetty, editor
