Be careful mixing this glaze due to the caustic nature of wood ash. This glaze will require testing due to where you get your wood ash and volcanic ash from. However, I am really loving the results from the simplicity of theses natural materials in atmospheric firings.

Mix with water into a cream-like consistency, then water it down to a thin application, similar to skim or almond milk. To help with settling, add a tablespoon or two of Epsom salts per batch of 10,000 grams. I dip pieces for 3 seconds and then clean up the foot rings to allow for wadding.
