Ingredients
Instructions
This is a variation of glazy.org/recipes/368631 Mason Colorworks underglaze. We found that having 40% minspar was too much for our cone-10 firings (sometimes the underglaze would blister and bloat at cone 10), so we reduced it to 30% and split the remaining 10% between EPK kaolin and OM 4 ball clay. We also suggest bisque firing pieces after application on bisqueware to prevent off-gassing/bubbling of the glaze on top.
Add 10–20% Mason stain or US Pigment stains.
Underglaze Liquid Solution
Mix with underglaze dry base and colorant until consistency of syrup, roughly 60% wet to 100% dry material, adjusting to desired consistency. (For example, 60 grams liquid solution for 100 grams dry base.)
This recipe was shared by Riley Rist in the October 2025 issue of Ceramics Monthly.
