Ingredients
Instructions
A gorgeous, smooth black glaze, Silky Black plays well with others, but can be a little runny in combinations, so put a cookie underneath your work. Because this glaze is so dark, sometimes I will use it only three-quarters of the way up on the outside of a piece and line the pot with a lighter glaze that also spills out over the lip and top ¼ of the pot, overlapping with Silky Black in some interesting ways and creating a lighter visual effect overall.
This recipe was shared in the January 2025 issue of Ceramics Monthly as an excerpt from Odyssey ClayWorks Director Gabriel Kline’s Amazing Glaze Recipes and Combinations, published by Quarto Press.
