Instructions

A reliable matte creamy glaze for use on light stoneware. Lovely on its own, it has a soft mottled surface, often with gray crystals and flashing on the edges (excellent in reduction). It is also interesting when used over dark glazes, slips, or underglazes. Its slightly translucent surface allows a little of the underlying color to bleed through, often creating a speckled muted color shift. Not recommended for functional interiors. Remove or reduce the rutile and it can also be used with colorants. Rutile can be added in 6.25-8.33% amounts for varied results.

For color add:

Teal:

  • Mason Stain 6266 3.13 %
  • Copper Carbonate 1.04 %

Black:

  • Mason Stain 6600 5.21 %
  • Red Iron Oxide 2.08 %
