This is a low-fire glaze that is not food safe due to extensive crazing. it can be layered with other glazes and fired to higher temperatures in a soda kiln (testing required). When fired alone to cone 6 in an electric kiln, it will bubble.
Julia Galloway has found that this glaze works well if applied thin with a brush and fired to cone 6 in a soda kiln. It can be used in soda firings at cone 6 as the soda fluxes the glaze and smooths out the bubbles. Galloway uses this in small amounts to accent knobs, spouts and handles, and sections of pots. It reacts well with cobalt inlay slip, causing blue streaks and runs on the surface. She has found it also turns out better if the firing is quicker.
