Add a few drops of glycerol to make the mixture easier to brush on. The colorant measurements to make the underglaze are not exact. When using oxides like cobalt carbonate or copper carbonate, which are stronger fluxes, it’s better to reduce the amount of oxide, they’re very strong colors anyway. If you want a more reliable underglaze just increase the ball clay a little bit. This recipe is good for making overglaze as well, but reduce the amount of stain and put a little bit more glaze in it.
