Add ¼ cup of barium carbonate dissolved in water to a 100-pound dry material batch to prevent scumming. *Sidenote for Lizella clay: You can use other clays, like Potting clay or Ranger Red. I use Lizella for its orange color and smaller particle size, which makes it easier to carve.
