Instructions

Wollastonite is the matting agent here, so adjust up or down 2–3% as desired. This glaze gets richest when fired at a solid cone 2 but if you’ve illustrated with thin black underglaze lines anywhere, keep those pieces in a cool, cone 1 spot in the kiln or they’ll blur. The specific gravity should be 1.44. The satin crystals form in the cooling process, between 1900°F and 1400°F (1038°C and 760°C) so if you have a computer-controlled kiln, fire down at a rate of 100°F per hour between those two temperature.
