Use 40–45% whiting, 10–15% Ferro frit 3195, and 40–45% EPK Kaolin.
I use this three-ingredient, low-fire matte clear to seal and warm the terra cotta without making it glossy or milky. I mix and apply it very thinly. It’s taken a lot of trial and error with the formula and the application to get the desired natural smooth finish. The range of ingredient percentages given shows the variations that should be tested when firing on different clay bodies and in different kilns.
