Instructions


Thoroughly wash and sieve the wood ash prior to making the glaze. Achieve the volatile and drippy nature of this ash glaze by dipping it thick. At the end of the reduction firing, between cone 9 and 10, hold the kiln in a neutral atmosphere for at least an hour before finishing with a crash cool down to 1500°F (816°C). This recipe is based on a Bill Van Gilder wood-ash glaze recipe.
