Artist Statement My work is about balance and fusion between form and surface design and western culture and my Chinese heritage. Using nature as my inspiration, I infuse its meaning into my pieces by celebrating the symbolism behind animals, plants and flowers. Studio Description I do oxidation firing in my own home studio; soda and wood firing at Shadbolt Art Centre (Burnaby, B.C.); and reduction firing at Place des Arts (Coquitlam, B.C.). What type of clay do you use? Porcelain and Stoneware.

What temperature do you fire to? Cone 6 and Cone 10.

What is your primary forming method? Slab Hand-building and Throwing.

What is your favorite surface treatment? Painting / Impress / Carving.

Do you make any of your own tools? Yes, I carve my own lino blocks and impress stencils.

What one word would you use to describe your work? Exploration.

What is your favorite thing about your studio? It's convenient. What is the one thing in your studio you can’t live without? My music.

How do you recharge creatively? Sketching and research.

Why do you create art? It's my personal passion and life's interest.
