Artist Statement
After a lifetime of painful empathy towards animals, deeply sad for those who could not help themselves, and doing all that I could manage in their protection and rescue, I now strive to reverse and heal those feelings in my paper clay animal sculptures. Capturing and celebrating their beauty, grace, humor, playfulness, unconditional love, and joy is my goal.

I create colorful ceramic creatures that hopefully bring a surprise and a smile to anyone who meets them. I lovingly get lost in their incubation. Each one tells their own story and has a spirited, impish personality, smiling inside and out. When I start, I know that story, decide which animal best fits into it, then begin. Most stories change and develop as I go, and at some point I almost feel like one with my new friend. Being a lover of flowers, fashion, style and color, I put "the devil in the details". My glazes are inspired by the beautiful natural color combinations in nature.
