Artist Statement
Creativity is my pocket pal. I carry it with me as I burrow into my everyday life. It is the way I see, think, and arrange my environment.

Studio Description
All Clay is a fully equipped ceramic studio in Pueblo Colorado that offers: Studio space, firing services, hand building instruction, and is a distributor of Rocky Mountain Clay.

What type of clay do you use?
Porcelain

What temperature do you fire to?
Cone 8

What is your primary forming method?
Bisque molds and throwing

What is your favorite surface treatment?
Sgraffiato, and monoprinting

Do you make any of your own tools?
I make most of my hand working tools.

What one word would you use to describe your work?
Compelling

What is your favorite thing about your studio?
It’s organized and bright.

What is the one thing in your studio you can’t live without?
The clay

What are your top three studio wishes?
I’m satisfied, I want for nothing.

What’s on your current reading list?
Pottery Making Illustrated, mysteries, historical fiction, history

How do you save money on materials and supplies?
I scrounge and make things out of scrounged materials that I need.

How do you recharge creatively?
Sleep, bikeride, read

Do you have any DIY tips for studio efficiency?
Create an organization system that works for you and is designed by you.

What challenges have you given yourself to overcome?
I lost my gallery income due to covid so I am learning how to represent myself.

What did your first piece look like?
Like an owl that was made over a balloon

What ceramic superpower would you have and why?
I’m not sure, I suppose it would be different on a daily basis depending on what aspect of the business was giving me the most grief.

Who is your ceramic art mentor and why?
Roger Lang. He was my ceramic professor in college and told me that “nothing really matters.”

What is your studio playlist?
NPR and a variety of music from country to rap

Why do you create art?
Because it is what I do best.

What is your best studio tip?
Have a home for everything. It makes cleanup easier and quicker- especially when it has gone over the edge.

If you could change one property of clay, what would it be?
Nothing. I really like it the way it is.
