Studio Description
A professional potter of 40+ years, I make woodfired stoneware vessels that are influenced by Japanese ceramics, textiles, and lacquer wares from the 15th through 21st centuries.  These are fired in a 30+ year old five chamber noborigama.  A full time studio artist as well as adjunct professor of ceramics, I have been teaching clay at the college level since the mid-70’s.  Winner of the Judges Special Prize in the Mashiko Ceramics Competiton, my work is in numerous public and private collections in Japan.
