Studio Description:
Pottery to perk up your table. From bowls of all sizes to your favorite mug, my philosophy is if you are going to have things you use every day, they should be items that you enjoy.

I am really inspired by the phrase: Don’t make something unless it is both necessary and useful; but if it is both necessary and useful, don’t hesitate to make it beautiful. – Shaker Philosophy

While this doesn’t apply to my work 100%, since not everything is necessary it is something that I keep in the back of my mind. The part about “don’t hesitate to make it beautiful” is what stands out the most. If you are going to have things (and who doesn’t) they should be items that you appreciate, use and enjoy.

I enjoy using a variety of methods for building and decorating the pieces. Some techniques include throwing on the potter’s wheel, hand building, decorating by incising and carving the clay, painting with underglazes and laying glazes to create a diverse color palette. These pots are made to be enjoyed daily, are dishwasher safe and microwaveable.
