Artist Statement
Influenced by her Egyptian roots and cultural background, Hala Sabet has always been fascinated by Geometry (measurement of the Earth), its origins, and how it develops an infinite array of possibilities and structures. In her practice, she interrogates the dynamic interplay between geometric clarity and organic intricacy by pushing the limits of both, forging sculptural structures and paintings that abstract the familiar, inviting viewers to see the world anew. Her latest work has focused on the integration of opposites such as chance/order, stability/precariousness, geometric/organic in an attempt to bring this clash of antonyms into harmony. Adopting a fluid, interdisciplinary approach, she seamlessly integrates drawing, painting, wood, clay, and diverse other media, in an attempt to transcend all art media boundaries. Hala Sabet has a BA (First Class Honours) in Fine Art and Masters in Fine Art (with Distinction). She has exhibited widely in galleries and venues throughout the United Kingdom and overseas.
