Artist Statement
Bringing to life what I imagine in my mind. Being able to bring joy to other people with my art. Bringing pottery to my small hometown. Driving to build a tight-knit group to collaborate and share in their love for ceramics.

How do you save money on materials and supplies?
I recycle as much clay and water as I possibly can

How do you recharge creatively?
Making sure I don’t do one thing for too long. It’s why I love pottery so much. Every step is something new and exciting.

Do you have any DIY tips for studio efficiency?
Bucket clay trap for a sink. Running water to wash tools and hands is a must!

What challenges have you given yourself to overcome?
Throwing taller

What did your first piece look like?
Mush

What ceramic superpower would you have and why?
The power to fire my pieces without a kiln or time.

What area of skill do you most look to other artists to learn?
Sgraffito

What is on your studio playlist?
So many different things. Depends on my mood.

Why do you create art?
I’ve always needed to be doing something with my hands. I’ve done a few different art forms, but ceramics calls to me because it is functional and it’s always different. All the stages give me joy.

What is your best studio tip?
Keep clean and organized

If you could change one property of clay, what would it be?
The mess!
