Artist Statement
My work is defined by my love of the human form. I express the absurdity of life while drawing influence from unexpected sources like the lyrics of music and nursery rhymes.

Studio Description
I live in South Florida, surrounded by palm trees and beautiful sunsets. My compact studio is at home where I am surrounded with all the tools I need . . . . my potters wheel, slab roller, extruder, kiln, and lots of tools.

What type of clay do you use?
White Stoneware and paper clay

What temperature do you fire to?
cone 6

What is your primary forming method?
Wheel thrown and handbuilt

What is your favorite surface treatment?
Slips, underglaze and glazes

Do you make any of your own tools?
Sometimes I alter wooden tools for a special purpose

What one word would you use to describe your work?
Quirky

What is your favorite thing about your studio?
I love working from home.

What is the one thing in your studio you can’t live without?
My kiln.

What are your top three studio wishes?
more space, more space and more space

What’s on your current reading list?
Re-reading the classics.

How do you save money on materials and supplies?
I save all my leftover bits of clay to recycle.

How do you recharge creatively?
I read and listen to music.

Do you have any DIY tips for studio efficiency?
Keep organized.

What challenges have you given yourself to overcome?
To make better use of by time.

What did you first piece look like?
It was a very thick, very heavy sculpture.

What ceramic superpower would you have and why?
I would love to be able to pick up huge, heavy ceramic sculptures.

What area of skill do you most look to other artists to learn?
Glazing

Who is your ceramic art mentor and why?
Just to name a few...I love the work of Cristina Cordova, Lisa Clague, Cheryl Tall, and Kelly Rathbone. So very inspiring!

What is your studio playlist?
I listen to adult alternative

Why do you create art?
Because I cannot stop, I love it so.

Who is your favorite artist and what do you admire about that artist?
There are too many to mention.

What is your best studio tip?
Keep your studio clean.

If you could change one property of clay, what would it be?
I would not change it at all
