Artist Statement
My work is about growing, renewal, and hope. I have lived with constant loss and my clay work helps me pretend I have some amount of control in the Mad Universe of My Life.

Flowing ribbon handles and pitchers are my current love, with some experimentation in platters and bakeware. I am inclined toward circles, cyclical shapes and the momentum or illusion of movement that connecting circles creates, this is exciting for me. I am wild for texture. Always on the hunt to find ways to make glaze textured. The combining of shapes, to create, to explore, to find new ways to reach up toward the sky and further, to the limits of the material, is to know myself. In this way, clay soothes my soul.

I build by hand, from slabs, mostly firing final pieces to cone 6. I am still learning about glazing. (What is the recommended and required amount of time to get a handle on glazes?!?) I recently made a large pot and am working bigger, as a way to test myself, and to move toward sculpture. My focus is on finding my voice in clay while embracing shapes and connections.
