Artist Statement
Most of my work is figurative and inspired by the intimate moments of contemplation, self-discovery, and personal evaluation that so often go unnoticed in a world of bold headlines and constant stimulation. These are the moments that truly change us.
Studio Description
I went to Red Deer College to become a painter and received a B.F.A in ceramics from the Alberta College of Art and Design.
What type of clay do you use?
I mainly use a medium fire porcelaneous clay
What temperature do you fire to?
I fire from low to mid range
What is your primary forming method?
I handbuild the majority of my work with the odd thrown piece added if necessary
What is your favorite thing about your studio?
It is the only place in that no one else is allowed in.
What is the one thing in your studio you can’t live without?
My large collection of books.
What are your top three studio wishes?
1. More space.
2. More time in it.
3. An unlimited variety of chemicals to test.
What’s on your current reading list?
Ian Mcewans “Nutshell” and Margaret Atwoods “Hag seed”
How do you save money on materials and supplies?
Shopping at the dollar store, second hand stores and repurposing pretty much anything
How do you recharge creatively?
Camping in the mountains with my family as far away from population as possible.
Do you have any DIY tips for studio efficiency?
Using pool noodle style foam strips screwed to the wall to organize everything from paint brushes to carving tools and clay ribs.

Right now I’m listening to “Milky Chance”
What is your best studio tip?
Learn to enjoy testing.
