Artist Statement
Over the years, I have made statements on pro choice, freedom of life, politics and women’s rights. Now I just love making cats, interpretations of Van Gogh, painting plates with items important to me for wall hanging.

I work from home, Laguna Woods Village, and Irvine Fine Arts Complex.

Slip and China white high-fire.

Slip molds

Cover coats and glaze

Yes

Social responsibility

What is your favorite thing about your studio?
I’m comfortable.

What is the one thing in your studio you can’t live without?
A good table

What are your top three studio wishes?
My own kiln, a garage, and storage shelves

How do you save money on materials and supplies?
Aardvark sales

How do you recharge creatively?
Reading, walking, and videos with a Diet Coke.

Do you have any DIY tips for studio efficiency?
Buy or rent your own house

What challenges have you given yourself to overcome?
Renting an apartment without a garage. I’m firing most of my items at Irvine Fine Arts Studio.

What did your first piece look like?
A sort of Picasso Robot

What ceramic superpower would you have and why?
Superstrong arms for lifting and beach firing

Who is your ceramic art mentor and why?
Garret Myers, he encouraged me.

What is on your studio playlist?
Pink Floyd.

Why do you create art?
It’s what I am, I have statements to make and people to make happy. It makes me happy.

What is your best studio tip?
Make what feels good

If you could change one property of clay, what would it be?
Not so much memory
