Hebé Garcìa was born in Miami, Florida on 1964 from Puerto Rican parents. On 1966 her family returned to Puerto Rico and took up residence in Floral Park, Hato Rey. From an early age the artist showed interest in drawing and painting. In 1986 she presented for the first time a series of etchings at the Fletcher Hall Gallery in Lafayette, Louisiana. The same year she obtained a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University Of Southwestern Louisiana, graduating with Cum Laude distinction. In 2000 she began collaborating with the Dance Company Ballet of Ponce PR, working in costume design, stage design, concept development and collaborative development of original dance productions. In August 2003 she enrolled the Art Students League of Old San Juan, taking painting workshops with Professor Nora Quintero. It is with Quintero that her interest in the acrylic medium starts, and where she develops her enthusiasm for the human figure. Recently, the artist has discovered clay as a new medium to experiment and create new engrossing and unique sculptures. She has studied with different teachers including Cheryl L. Savoy, William T. Secrest, Herman P. Mire, Gilbert C. Carner (USA 1982-1986), and Nora Quintero (2003-2007), Roxana Jordan (2005), Hiram Rosado (2006 to 2008) and Luis Ivorra (2010-2012), Debra Fritts (2013), Cristina CÃrdova and Jason Burnett (2014).
