Artist Statement
My work combines textures and silkscreened imagery to provide glimpses into my everyday surroundings. Each piece begins with photographs and sketches, utilizes wheel and handbuilding techniques, and currently focuses on raku firing.

Studio Description
I believe that art can and should be an integral part of our everyday lives. Handmade ceramics or silkscreen print, my artwork is intended to bring a little joy into the lives of those who see or use them.

What type of clay do you use?
Stoneware

What temperature do you fire to?
Raku firing or cone 6 (sometimes wood-fire, too).

What is your primary forming method?
Wheel and handbuilding

What is your favorite surface treatment?
Lots of texture and silkscreened images

What one word would you use to describe your work?
Loose, organic

What is your favorite thing about your studio?
It's right in the other room.

What is the one thing in your studio you can’t live without?
My wheel!

What are your top three studio wishes?
More space, more space, and my own kiln

Recycling clay

Yoga, reading, taking a workshop or class.

Keep the clutter to a minimum and throw out what you don't need.

Carving out more studio time

A blue bowl with a somewhat heavy bottom

What ceramic superpower would you have and why?
The ability to glaze pieces automatically

Matt Nolan—he was my teacher for many years.

Why do you create art?
It's just who I am.

Keep it clean, stay focused, and make the most of those "happy accidents."
