Artist Statement
From a very early age, I have always been very creative… ceramic sculpture and all genres of art are my passion, art to me is like breathing and I can’t imagine a day when I’m not creating something or thinking of my next project.

Studio Description
Just a few steps across my lawn and I’m in my studio . This is my creative space where my imagination runs wild. A bookcase on the far wall stocked with all my favorite artists, books on glazing, etc, etc. It’s my haven.

Stoneware, crank, porcelain paper clay depending on what I’m making.

Handbuilding

Mixed Mayco glazes

Whimsical

Do you have any DIY tips for studio efficiency?
I’m afraid I’m far from efficient, so can’t share any DIY tips.

What challenges have you given yourself to overcome?
Every time I make something, I try to push myself to the limit. My biggest challenge is making the right decision with glazing.

What did you first piece look like?
My very first piece was a figure of a man from life, although he was naked I chose to hide his parts behind a constructed cloth. In my garden now.

What ceramic superpower would you have and why?
To be better at what I do, to have the ability to understand the science in glazing. Glazing is trial and error for me so to have the ability–great.

Who is your ceramic art mentor and why?
Would like one but I don’t have one, I work alone.

What is your studio playlist?
Various dvds from artists of ceramic arts.

Why do you create art?
It’s in my soul, it’s something I’ve always loved to do.

What is your best studio tip?
Enjoy and love what you make.

If you could change one property of clay, what would it be?
Not to shrink.
