Artist Statement:
I Grew up in the home of a Ceramicist, clay played a role in my life from an early age. Early on I had a passion for fine and delicate porcelain work.
I decided to focus and hone my skill in Nerikomi.

Studio Description:
I run a cosy studio from my home and have remote location housing my kilns for glazing and firing.

What type of clay do you use?
Porcelain and Stoneware

What temperature do you fire to?
1260 ‘C

What is your primary forming method?
Hand building

What is your favorite surface treatment?
Hessien

Do you make any of your own tools?
No repurpose tools from the baking and culinary industry to supplement my pottery tools.

What one word would you use to describe your work?
Vibrant

What is your favorite thing about your studio?
My solid wood working table

What is the one thing in your studio you can’t live without?
My measuring tape

What are your top three studio wishes?
To build a proper drying room. Build a gas kiln. Good quality translucent German porcelain.

How do you save money on materials and supplies?
Recycle broken pieces to create a new form of marbled clay

Visit the country side

What challenges have you given yourself to overcome?
Want to create a sculpture standing 1meter tall using my method of making.

A pinch pot in red earthenware

What ceramic superpower would you have and why?
The ability to work very very thin in porcelain using handbuilding techniques

John Shirley. His knowledge about raw materials and his work in bonechina

Why do you create art?
It is passion deep inside me. I feel it is a God given talent to create and shame to let it go to waste.

What is your best studio tip?
Add toilet paper to your slip to help with adhesion

If you could change one property of clay, what would it be?
Not to crack
