Artist Portfolio

“I had my work posted on several websites over the last few years with little or no responses at the ones I did get were not serious. You posted my portfolio listing last week and I have already received an email and a follow-up order. I was pleasantly shocked by this quick response. Thought you should know your good work is in fact showing!” -Sandy Early, Potter Council member.

Mentoring

“My major objective when applying to the ICAN Mentoring Program was to tailor/refine my bio, artist statement, and website, to prepare (and push) me in taking the next step of approaching galleries. My Mentor did a fantastic job helping me simplify and strengthen my artist statement and bio. She was a real coach in my reaching out to galleries…she celebrated with me too when I was accepted into one. I would absolutely recommend the Mentoring Program to others. We artists/craftsmen tend to work in isolation and sometimes need a fresh set of objective eyes on our work. This program is a valuable resource in connecting members…be it for career advice, input on a project, or a supportive coach in our corner from time to time.” —Teresa Deible, ICAN Member and Mentee

“The Mentoring Program was laid out very well. The guidelines were clear and gave both of us, the mentor and mentee, a structure to work within at the beginning. I have had 30 years of experience with making, selling, and teaching pottery. I love teaching and sharing with other potters. My mentee worked very hard to meet her goals, and I am so proud of her and her accomplishments! I want to see where she goes from here. Mentoring has inspired me to get back into pottery more seriously myself and has also been a great experience for my personal ceramic progress!” —Leslie Messersmith, ICAN Member and Mentor
