Ayumi Horie: White Pots

Today we have the latest video from the oh-so talented Ayumi Horie. As usual it is slick, stylish, and funny!

In this one, Ayumi talks about the importance of touch in this increasingly digitally focused world. You’ll also catch a glimpse into her unique “dry throwing” method, how she creates her match strikers, and a special surprise at around 3 minutes in (wait for it, wait for it). Hope you enjoy it as much as I did! – Jennifer Poellot Harnetty, editor.

Love love love this video!-did I say I love this video…one if not the best pottery videos I’ve seen.
Retired massage therapist I am – and have taken up pottery for my tactile subject. I love how you so eloquently describe your work and how you see it, feel it and experience it. Such an inspiration – Thank you!

Absolutely magnificent. On this rare morning, I woke up uninspired. You changed that! Thank you.

what a great video… I was mesmerized…. completely. Glad I threw it to the tv.

  • Oh my gosh, what a great video. I watched it twice. Once to hear and once to see. I love what you said about clay being like holding someone’s hand or giving it a gentle squeeze. Also asking the person using the piece to meet you half way, to engage. I laughed out loud with the cake reference (yum, looked good) and loved the surprise. I loved watching you handle the clay. I am still tentative and like to see the boldness that comes with experience. And, loved the surprise at the end! Thank you so much for sharing!!
