Glossy clear base that holds colorants well.

*Imsil Silica is an amporhous micronized silica available from Highwater Clay that is very good at reducing or eliminating crazing. Richard Hensley uses the Imsil Silica for a total of between 1/3 to less than 1/2 of the silica content. Increasing the ratio causes crawling. If working with stoneware, you can omit the Imsil Silica and use a combined total of 30.29% 325-mesh silica. There are fewer crazing issues with stoneware.
